4 channels direct box
The Di4 4-Channel Direct Box converts unbalanced audio links into balanced links for seamless compatibility with professional audio equipment inputs. Each channel has a -20 dB attenuator and a mass isolation switch. The Di4 can also be used simultaneously as a stereo mixer. This allows for example to send each channel to the main mixer and get a mix for a return of scene, with a headphone output on the front panel.
Using the dbx Di4 as a direct box:
connect the signal you want to convert from unbalanced to balanced to the Di4 via a 1/4 inch unbalanced jack to one of the channel inputs on the front panel of the unit. Connect an XLR balanced cable to the corresponding channel output on the back of the Di4 and connect to the chosen destination. If the input signal strength is too high, you can press the 20 dB pad. If there is an earthing loop hum (ground), you can remove it by pressing the earthing switch.
Using the dbx Di4 as a line mixer:
You can mix the volume and pan of all input signals with a single stereo pair of RCA connections on the back of the Di4. This allows the use of the unit as a fully functional line mixer. Simply connect the RCA stereo master outputs on the back to the chosen destination and adjust the individual volume and pan controls for each individual channel at the front of the Di4 to suit your needs.
