The Onkyo DP-S1 is equipped with a dual DAC ESS of last generation combined with a dual amp amp with symmetrical and unbalanced output. Compatible with Hi-Res Audio audio files up to 32 bits / 192 kHz and DSD 5.6 MHz on microSD cards, it offers access to web radios and Tidal.

The Onkyo DP-S1 is a compact, touchscreen audiophile player with components very similar to the Onkyo DP-X1. It is differentiated by a version of Android lightweight, exempt from the Google Play Store and offering besides the playback of audio files, WiFi access to Internet radios and Tidal. The dual amp ESS Saber ES9601K is renewed and the double DAC is even updated, from the ES9018K2M to the new SABER ES9018C2M. Onkyo also installed a dual synchronization clock to ensure perfect decoding of 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz multiple audio samples.

Onkyo DP-S1Two headphone amps and two DACs allow the Onkyo DP-S1 player to offer excellent musicality. Both DACs ensure perfect audio decoding and a very high noise ratio. The presence of two amps allows to exploit an asymmetrical architecture, with an even greater sound level. The DSP Onkyo DP-S1 has two headphone outputs, one 3.5 mm mini-jack for headphones and a 2.5 mm mini-jack for headphones with balanced cable. The power output allows to serenely feed all headphones market and the vast majority of hi-fi headphones. The sound aesthetic can be adjusted, by means of a gain selector, a built-in 10-band EQ, and the choice of three digital filters. Oversampling is also proposed, as well as the accuracy of clock synchronization.

Onkyo DP-S1: Micro SD Reader and Read Files

The Onkyo DP-S1 audio player has a 16 GB internal memory, some of which is used by its operating system. The typical use of such a walkman is based on the use of one or two microSD cards, to accommodate its music files. With two 200GB cards, the storage capacity can be increased to 400GB, allowing you to carry thousands of CD or studio-quality audio files. The FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, AAC, MP3 and DSD files are read. Finally, Hi-Res Audio MQA encoding is supported.

Onkyo DP-S1: practical functions

The Onkyo DP-S1 player software allows the creation of playlists on the fly, random playback, rehearsal, and sorting of songs by artist, album or genre. Continuous (gapless) playback is permitted. New, this DAP can be controlled by a smartphone, thanks to the application Onkyo DapController. In addition to the audio playback application, the Onkyo DP-S1 player includes an Internet Radio and Tidal listening module. The manufacturer plans to support other online music services as future software updates to the player. Finally, a Bluetooth transmitter allows listening with a wireless headset or to a compatible amplifier or speaker.
